From Spider-Man to Cherry: Tom Holland on Challenging Himself in the Russos' Drama

Tom Holland reveals about walking from his role as Spider-Man within the Marvel Motion picture World to reunite with Joe and Anthony Russo within their opioid addiction drama Cherry.

Cherry follows nature journey of the disenfranchised youthful man from Ohio who meets the romance of his existence, simply to risk losing her through a number of bad decisions and challenging existence conditions. Inspired through the best-selling novel of the identical name, Cherry features Tom Holland within the title role being an unhinged character who drifts from shedding from college to serving in Iraq being an Army medic and it is only moored by his one real love, Emily (Ciara Bravo).

When Cherry returns home a war hero, he battles the demons of undiagnosed Post traumatic stress disorder and spirals into substance abuse, surrounding themself having a menagerie of depraved misfits. Draining his finances, Cherry turns to bank robbing to finance his addiction, shattering his relationship with Emily on the way. Introduced towards the screen in bold, gritty fashion by visionary company directors Anthony and Joe Russo, Cherry is really a darkly humorous, unflinching coming-of-age story assertive on the universal pursuit of purpose and human connection.

Cherry will premiere in select theaters on Feb 26 and globally on Apple TV+ March 12, 2021. The show stars Tom Holland, Ciara Bravo, Jack Reynor, Michael Rispoli, Shaun Wahlberg, Forrest Goodluck and Michael Gandolfini.
